Cinema-240

This is the historic Capital Theater in Downtown Maryville. It was built around 1922 and was a popular gathering spot for many years. My Dad was watching a movie here in 1940 when they came to tell him that his father had died. He was 14. The theater closed for several years and re-opened a couple of years ago with one of the original marquee's out front. The theater is now used as an Art Gallery by it's owner, a coffee shop and leased out for parties and social events.

I love these old theaters. Nice that this one was restored. What a poignant bit of family history too...

Deb, I want to thank you for visiting my daughter Kate's blog from time to time. You may notice that she and her friends have taken it down. The two interested girls decided to do separate blogs. Kate's is kates366.blogspot.com and Tina's is tinas366.blogspot.com.

Nice shot, I really like the art deco style of the lights.
