I was taking pictures the other day around a small pond and I see these dragonflies buzzing around my head. Well, the next thing I know they are mating right out in the middle of the pond. It was a little too far away to shoot clearly with the lens I had on, so I had to crop these shots quite a bit. That's why the quality is not the best. Anyway, so after they mate, the female immediately deposits her eggs on a nearby lilypad. These shots show the beginning of the life of a dragonfly.
